Institutions

The Association of Czech Booksellers and Publishers <www.bookworld.cz>

The Association was CPD’s partner in the Czech Republic in the European Publishing Training Needs in the Information Society II Project (EPTNIS II) conducted in 1999.

Book Marketing Research <www.bmr.com.pl>

This Polish company delivered courses on book marketing for publishers in Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Slovakia and Ukraine.

The British Council <www.britcoun.org>

The British Council co-sponsored preparatory stage of a bid for a Tempus Tacis grant to develop publishing studies in Ukraine in 1999. They were also involved in a similar project in Russia in 2000. It also co-funded a bookselling seminar organised by CPD and Soros Foundations located in the Caucasus that took place in Georgia in July 2000.

Budapest Observatory <www.budobs.org>

Peter Inkei, the director of this consultancy firm, runs on CPD’s behalf the Publishing Legislation Online Project.

Council of Europe <http://culture.coe.fr/epba>

CPD has published Council of Europe’s reports produced within the ‘Governments love books (electronic books, too)’ run by the Electronic Publishing, Books and Archives unit.

Frankfurt Book Fair <www.frankfurt-book-fair.com>

In 1999 CPD sponsored the participation of East European and Central Asian publishers in the Frankfurt Rights Catalogue. The Fair was also CPD’s partner in the European Publishing Training Needs in the Information Society II Project (EPTNIS II) conducted in 1999.

Fund Central and Eastern European Book Projects <www.ceebp.org>

CPD has co-sponsored with the Fund the participation of East European and Central Asian publishers in the Frankfurt Rights Catalogue project in 1999 as well as the Slovak Small Print Run Publishing Project. The Fund has also worked with Soros Foundations in Bulgaria and Poland on Cultural Journals Projects.

Hungarian Publishers and Booksellers Association <www.mkke.hu>

The association helped CPD organise a tour of the Hungarian textbook industry by a group of Azeri educational publishers, which took place in February 1999.

ISBN International Agency <www.isbn.spk-berlin.de>

The Agency, through its director Hartmut Walraves, cooperated with CPD on conducting ISBN seminars in Central Asia and the Caucasus as well as Albania. The cooperation of these two institutions was instrumental for the establishment of new local agencies in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kosovo and Mongolia. ISBN Manual is available both in English and Russian on CPD website.

Logos Journal

In 1999 CPD included in its website a number of selected articles from the Logos journals, which till then had no web presence.

Metapress <www.metapress.com.pl>

The company was a co-organiser of a seminar on Print on Demand that took place in Warsaw in June 2000 and that was co-funded by CPD. The president of Metapress, Grzegorz Boguta, also provided the Center with consultancy on East European Books in Print projects.

The Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies at Oxford Brookes University was CPD’s partner in the European Publishing Training Needs in the Information Society II Project (EPTNIS II) conducted in 1999. It also hosted a number of tours of publishing studies specialists from Eastern Europe sponsored by CPD.

Polish Chamber of Books

The Chamber was CPD’s partner in a seminar on Print on Demand organised in Poland in June 2000.

The program assists CPD and OSI Network Women’s Program in conducting Women’s Issues and Lesbian & Gay Issues Translation Projects.

The Publishing Training Centre <www.train4publishing.co.uk>

The centre was CPD’s partner in the European Publishing Training Needs in the Information Society II Project (EPTNIS II) conducted in 1999. It also hosted a number of tours of publishing studies specialists from Eastern Europe sponsored by CPD. Its Chief Executive John Whitley gave several presentations at the Publishing Studies conference in November 2000.

Xerox was a co-sponsor of a seminar on Books in Print organised in Poland in June 2000.

Publishing policy consultant, assisted CPD in the organisation of a workshop on Book Support Colloquium in Budapest in 1997, provided consultancy in Mongolia. She is also the author of the text: Textbooks for developing economies: Why projects fail? which is available on CPD’s website.

Member of Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, took part in the compilation of the Social Capital and Trust module of the modified CEU Translation Project list.
