Resident of a small resort town in the northern part of Michigan’s lower peninsula for much of the past twenty-five years, I am coping well with my new home in Budapest. In Michigan my two cats, Esmerela (AKA The Queen) and Young Winston keep me company as do my cadre of theatre and teaching friends. A debater, a thespian, a teacher of writing are all roles I assume in Michigan where I teach an integrated curriculum of American history, literature, writing and civics. Debate, public speaking, and writing tutorials round out my typical teaching schedule in the public schools. Despite a hectic schedule I make sure I have lots of time to ride bike, canoe, hike, camp and ski in the beautiful region of Grand Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan.
In Budapest I live in a cozy, comfortable fourth floor flat with a few plants for company. Luckily one of my friends here in Budapest has five cats so there are lots of kitty cuddles available. Living right next to one of the fine fruit and vegetable markets in Budapest makes me very happy as I prefer fresh fare to fried! While living in Central Europe is new to me, I did live thee years in Switzerland teaching drama and public speaking in an American school there. My family is very important to me. My mother and father, always supportive of my ventures provide a great net of love along with my sister, my brother, his wife and my two nephews, Matthew and Michael. I give thanks everyday for the love of these fine people who nourish my soul. My anticipation mounts as I make plane reservations to begin my visits. Please contact me through via my email address masonje@ceu.hu or sancho@ind.eunet.hu if you are interested in a visit.
