Lack of access to valuable information resources is often a problem in many of the countries served by the OSI. Because of this, EPDP initiated a large-scale project to bring electronic information to the region.

Electronic Information for Libraries Direct (EIFL Direct) is run by the OSI's Information Program.

EIFL provides electronic access to over 3,200 journals, primarily in the social sciences and humanities. It is mainly available to libraries in countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Central Asia, southern Africa, and Guatemala and Haiti.
