The Institute for Educational Policy (IEP) is part of the OSI network, set up by George Soros to support the development of open societies in former communist countries. The IEP was established in January 1998 to cooperate with OSI foundations and departments, with governments and education institutions, in creating coherent policy frameworks to guide the reforms of general education systems in former communist countries. In its work, the IEP forwards the agenda of education for an open society.
